Guidelines for Poetry

Menendez Publishing introduces Oranges & Sardines, the new print magazine dedicated to spanning the two genres of poetry and art in an effort to fuse both communities in a fresh and exciting way. The staff of Oranges & Sardines are poets and artists who are dedicated not only to publishing the best content submitted in both genres, but also to the aesthetic appearance of our magazine. We welcome submissions from the established as well as the emerging and unknown.

Interested parties should submit 8 -12 poems for consideration via email to didimenendez at hotmail dot com. Please do not send attachments.

The format of Oranges & Sardines is 8 x 10. Because of this, please keep in mind that we will favor poetry that fits within this layout. Strangely formatted poems may not be the best choice to submit. Also please keep in mind page count. The length of the individual poems should not exceed two pages.

No simultaneous submissions please. No submissions or poems that have been previously published. We consider “published” is published. This includes small, private editions, and even poems previously posted on blogs and personal web sites.

If you intend on submitting visual poetry please validate before hand that the poetry will fit. Then send your poetry in .jpg format. These submissions will be the only exception to our "no attachment" policy.

Allow four to six weeks for your submission to be reviewed by our poetry editors and responded to. If you do not hear from one of our editors by then, feel free to email us again with an inquiry.

If you have been featured in one of the full color print versions of
MiPOesias Magazine please wait a one year time frame before submitting.

Poets selected to be featured will be asked for other materials including high resolution (300dpi) author photos upon acceptance. If you are camera shy, please do not submit.

Currently, we are unable to offer contributor hard copies. Oranges & Sardines will be available through amazon.com and also available for a limited time as a download pdf file.

Scheduled debut: Summer 2008

By accepting Oranges & Sardines offer to publish your poems and requested artwork specific for the press use, you agree to acknowledge Oranges & Sardines as first publisher in future reprints of  books, anthologies, web site publications, podcasts, radio, etc. Copyright reverts back to authors/artists upon publication.

Please place on subject line Oranges & Sardines Submission. Deadlines must be met or publication acceptance will be withdrawn or postponed for a future issue.
