WMOCA International Biennial Portrait Competition 2019

Welcome to the first  WMOCA International Biennial Portrait Competition, (IBPC)! We are excited to offer this new exhibit every two years to bring the best portrait painters and sculptors from around the world to the heart of America. Serious venues for portrait and figurative painting are few and far between in the US. We believe this exhibition, as it grows, will rival that of the Smithsonian’s Outwin Boochever,  in Washington, DC, and the BP Portrait Awards, in London, England.

This competition is open to all painters and sculptors Internationally ages 18 and over.

Accepted works will be on exhibit at the Wausau Museum of Contemporary Art from April 9, through June 29, 2019.

This year’s juror is Margaret Bowland, Painting Instructor, New York Academy of Art, New York, NY.

The Arts & Artists Foundation is holding the 10th International Painting & Sculpture Competition Figurativas 2019, with First Prize for painting of up to €36,000, a Sculpture Acquisition Fund of €40,000 and fund to be determined for acquiring painting works. The Foundation seeks to promote and diffuse Figurative Art, and its chief mission will be to encourage artistic initiatives and sponsor artists. Among the jurors in the last calls we can find names of prestigious international artists such as: Antonio López García, Lita Cabellut, Odd Nerdrum, Richard Estes, Jacob Collins, Daniel Graves, Gottfried Helnwein, Alex Kanevsky, and Nicola Samorì.
