Story Tellers is a call for paintings that tell a story. Such paintings may include references to topics such as the artist's personal life, culture, current political or social issues. We are looking for work that is highly conceptual and narrative. The images will be selected based on technical application, creativity, predictive power, and relevance to the call.
The work should be painted in the figurative-realist style and must feature the human figure or figures. Depicted figures do not need to be identifiable persons. For a painting to be considered, it must be an original piece created specifically for this call.
All the artwork selected by the curators will be published in the catalog and available to buy. Flinders Lane Gallery will select works from the publication to exhibit. Artists are responsible for shipping to and from the gallery in Australia. If the artist can not ship the work, it may still be submitted for the publication only. Select that option on the form below. All works regardless if they hang in the gallery or not should be available to sell. This is a call for NEW work. Therefore, the works should not be shown online or in a publication previous to submission. We will contact all artists selected to be published shortly after the deadline. Please note, we do not send out rejections.
The announcement with the list of artists selected for publication will be published on this page. Read our general guidelines before submitting.
